Common questions
Where can you pick your own fruit in Australia?
We list 292 pick-your-own farms across 7 states, most of them in NSW, in Victoria and in Queensland. Every farm has its own page with the address, season dates, opening hours, phone number and a map.
What can you pick, and when?
Australia picks nearly all year. Cherries run November to January, strawberries September to December in the southern states but June to October in Queensland, apples February to May, citrus June to September, blueberries and stone fruit through summer, and Christmas trees in November and December. The full month by month table is on the crop calendar.
Do you need to book?
Increasingly, yes, particularly at cherry orchards over the Christmas weeks and at flower and sunflower fields, which sell timed sessions. Each listing says whether booking is required. Where it is, book early: weekend slots go quickly.
How does pick your own work?
The farm lends or sells you a container, you pick along the rows, and you pay on the way out, by weight or by container. Some farms charge entry per person instead, sometimes including all you can eat while you are in the orchard. Many are cash only. We publish whatever unit the farm itself quotes, without converting it.
Is the information up to date?
It comes from the farms' own websites and Facebook pages, and every listing carries the date we last checked it. Picking depends on the weather, so confirm with the farm before you travel, especially at the very start and end of a season.
